Original Happi Jacket - PASSION -

Bold, intense colors with expressive brushwork so vivid that you can almost feel the movement of the brush. Look closely, and you will find protective motifs such as bells and swords hidden within the design.

This is a completely original Happi Jacket, specially commissioned and made for us.

It is a collaboration with Kogashin, a long-established kimono shop based in Yanagawa, Kyushu, Japan.

This jacket was created by upcycling a traditional Japanese nobori banner, originally used for Tango no Sekku (Boys’ Day) celebrations in Japan.

The strong fabric and bold design create a powerful and striking look.

The original banner carries wishes for children to grow up healthy and strong, and for the safety and well-being of the family. With these meanings in mind, we wanted to create something strong, bold and cool.

Three happi jackets were made from a single banner, but the placement of the design is different on every jacket. This means that each one is completely unique — there is only one of each in the world.

Because the original nobori banner was designed for outdoor use, the fabric is strong and has been treated/coated for durability. It is made from materials including cotton and polyester.

It does not need to be washed after every wear. If it becomes dirty, we recommend taking it to a professional dry cleaner.

A matching fabric belt/tie, made from the same nobori fabric, is included.
